Ceremony Information

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences I ceremony Starts at 8 A.M.
For Graduates

When to Arrive:

Candidates should plan to arrive one hour before their ceremony's scheduled start time. Line-up will begin one hour prior to each ceremony's scheduled start time.

Where to Go:

All candidates with a commencement ceremony in the Coliseum will enter the Coliseum at the west tunnel near the building’s electronic sign off of North Texas Blvd. Parking will be available in the lots next to the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Coliseum (Lot 20). ADA parking will be available in Lot 27 (at the corner of Maple Street and Highland Street). Parking is on a first come, first served basis. Normal routes to campus may be altered and surrounding streets will be congested with event traffic. Expect delays.

If your ceremony is in the Muchison Performing Arts Center, you will park in the same palce and walk to the Muchison.

What to Do:

There are no ceremony rehearsals. Please give announcers, marshals and staff your complete attention before and during the event to ensure you have all the necessary instructions.

When the ceremony processional begins, ceremony marshals will direct you to your seat. During the ceremony, cheer for your classmates crossing the stage and respect those who come after them. When your turn arrives, marshals will direct you when to rise and go to the stage where your QR code will be scanned to trigger your name announcement. You’ll receive a diploma cover, be congratulated by your dean or college administrator and then exit the stage to have your photo taken by Flash Photography before returning to your seat.

Remain for the duration of your ceremony.

  • Drivers who are north of 91¿ì»îÁÖ and traveling south on I-35 should take the West Oak Street exit and continue east on West Hickory Street after it splits from Oak Street. Turn right to travel south on North Texas Boulevard and follow directional signs and police officers’ instructions.
  • Drivers who are south of 91¿ì»îÁÖ traveling north on I-35W should take the new Bonnie Brae Street/Airport Road (FM 1515) exit. Continue right to stay eastbound on Airport Rd, then turn left at the Bonnie Brae Street intersection to travel north on Bonnie Brae. At the I-35E intersection, turn right to travel south on the service road, then turn left on North Texas Boulevard and follow directional signs and police officers’ instructions.

Be prepared to walk a distance from your parking spot as there is limited parking immediately adjacent to the venues. It may take up to 10 minutes to walk from some parking locations.

Accessible parking will be in Lots 26 and 27 along Highland Street, which is across the street from the Coliseum. Accessible parking includes handicapped parking as well as parking for guests or graduates with mobility limitations or who cannot walk for 10 minutes on a hot day. Parking lot attendants will not be checking for ADA placards and will not turn drivers away from parking in the accessible lot.

The drop-off point for graduates or guests is on the east side of the Coliseum in the circle drive off Avenue D and can be reached by going east on Eagle Drive, then north on Avenue C, then west on Maple Drive.

A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available near the Murchison Performing Arts Center for guests attending ceremonies in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

Ceremony Locations

Coliseum doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony start time. Gate A (in the northwest corner) and Gate E (in the southwest corner) on the upper level will be available for guest entrance. Graduates enter through the West Tunnel.

Doors to the Margot and Bill Winspear Performance Hall inside the Murchison Performing Arts Center open one hour prior to the ceremony start time.

For the safety and comfort of the Mean Green community, security staff will strictly enforce the Clear Bag Policy at all Coliseum and Murchison entrances. Graduates and guests with prohibited items must discard or return them to their vehicles before they are permitted to enter the venue. Staff will not store or hold items for you.

Guests are asked to stay for the duration of the ceremony and to meet their graduate outside the venue at the ceremony's conclusion. Graduates will exit the Coliseum through the South Tunnel.

Seating

Guests enter and are seated in the middle and upper seats around the venue and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are not required and seat-saving is not allowed. If graduation ceremonies reach seating capacity, guests will be directed to nearby venues to watch live broadcasts of the ceremonies on television screens.
